Post Time!

First insider thoughts after the Trios Tavern gig…
Thanks again to everyone for coming to check out both Trios Tavern, and the Deck Band on Saturday the 28th. It looked like you all had a great time, and it appears as if the bar’s owner Joe had a good night.
The Deck Band has been invited back to perform and party (a little P&P) on Saturday night, June 16th!
For those that spent the night, here’s a little of what you may not have noticed…
The entire first set was played with only one speaker plugged in. As we were heading to get a drink after the set, Tom leans over and says “Hey, what’s this?” while holding up the yellow speaker wire.
We also played the entire evening with TC’s mic down too low, Whitey’s too hot, and JR’s just right. Each and every time we play out, we learn new stuff, which makes it all the more exciting. The new flashing lights nearly also caused Kev to wet himself and forget his name. Oh wait, that was Cousin Eddie from Vacation. Nevermind.
Did anyone notice the new version of Wrap It Up? Trust us, it wasn’t by design. Somehow, we all lost each other and the song turned into a free for all jam. By the look of the crowd, nobody again seemed to care much. Partygoers just kept on dancing. It was a quazi-miracle we were able to end the song on the same note, just going to show you if you play long enough, you’ll find your way out of the weeds.
The band took the rest of the week off, and convened at Carey’s Irish Pub on Saturday, May 5th. Four new songs were kicked around; Message in a Bottle (The Police), Johnny Be Good (various artists), Higher Ground (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Boys are Back in Town (Thin Lizzy). All four are pretty challenging, but we are hoping to unveil at least two of them at The Little Spot on May 18th.
As the title of this column kicked off (Post Time), today was the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby. The band made their contribution to the American staple, buying a Trifecta Box ticket of 7-8-16-18-19. In case you missed it, the finish was 7-9-2. Just a tad bit off the pace for a new or upgraded PA system.
Oh well, congrats to Street Sense who picked up the Roses at Churchill Downs. The boys in the band will continue to pick up a few tunes here and there, and stay with our trusty Peavey system.
