Tuesday night practice at Carey's Irish Pub was a fun night. First the fellas brushed up on the upcoming Little Spot first set. After a short break, in which a new song vote was agreed on, the four new songs were hit.
As mentioned on previous blogs, these songs are going to be tough to master. The easiest might be the bar staple, Johnny Be Good. JR made some nice headway on the lead guitar, while Whitey, Murph, and TC seemed to have the rest down.
Message in a Bottle got nice reviews by TC and JR. Whitey wasn't so sure, but vowed to keep working on the unique Stewart Copeland licks, timing, and high pitched vocals. We caught up with Whitey after practice, where he softly uttered "that one scares me".
Higher Ground this writer thought really made headway. Kev is mashing the signature bassline for three solid minutes, while JR's guitar seems to gloss over every other flaw in the band. This will definitely be a popular tune once we tighted it up.
Thin Lizzy's Boys are Back in Town was the final tune to work Tuesday night. The band make nice headway on the song format, but it is going to be another tricky one to master for publication.
The band will stay at it over the upcoming weeks to introduce these songs, AND five new tunes by the end of the summer.
We'll keep ya posted on what the new song choices are, including a first ever Deck Band ballad.
Can ya stand it?!

As always, rock on Garths...
