The Deck Band... Rockin' and Bloggin' South Jersey one party at at time!

There's an old saying apparently amoung musicians in reference to having a shitty practice before a gig.  That really wasn't the case on Tuesday night at Carey's Irish Pub, so we may be in trouble on Friday night at The Little Spot.

The foursome got off to an early start on Tuesday, and agreed to go through the setlist from top to bottom.  Most of the songs we decided we were good with, so we skipped them and proceeded to play those we had questions about, plus the new stuff.

During the first break of the night, the band employed the services of one Deneen White to take a few group shots, while enjoying a few brews, a couple of smokes, and a Freska.  During the break we also chatted about the new vote which should be out, and decided on by next week sometime.

New Songs to be introduced Friday night:  Johnny Be Good (it's fun, it moves, and we sound pretty damn good with it), and Message in a Bottle (still giving Whitey fits, but what the @%$!, give it a whirl).

Funny Moment of the Night:  Kev played the bass riff for Higher Ground non-stop, all night whenever he had a chance in between songs.  When it came time for the other three guys to play it together, Murph calmly states "I'm really not interested in that song".

Weird Equipment Moment of the Night:  For the second week in a row, when JR unplugged his Gibson to switch to an accoustic, we got a weird overmodulated, underpowered sound.  We bypassed the Boss right into the PA, with the same result.  We then used a lower end cable with the accoustic into to PA and it sounded fine.  Is it possible that a high end cable can wig out on accoustic pick ups?  We'll find out.

Overall, we felt like we had a good session, and are looking forward to a fun night out at the Spot Friday at 9:00.

Come on out and have a few cold ones with us!
