Looks like it is going to be a busy summer for the boys in the band, with two gigs in two weeks, and several other performances in discussion.
Of course on July 7th (Lucky 7.7.7), The Deck Band will be making their third summertime visit at Whitey Pool-Ooza. Not a bad commute for Whitey, who merely has to open the back door and walk to the drum kit. If it were just that easy.
TC put together a killer set for the pool-ooza, and the band is scheduled to kick off sometime around 3:00. It will also mark the debut of the new Deck Band shirts.
The following week will be another daytime, outside gig at Ott’s Tavern on the Green. Should be nice and hot for an afternoon of tunes, suds, and chow. The band will be playing in between the outside bar, and the garden in the rear. Always a good time at Ott’s, come on out for a late lunch. Post time for Sunday’s Ott’s gig is 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
August could see the band play out three times. August 4th and 11th (possible private parties), or The Little Spot on the 11th in a benefit for our nation’s soldiers in Iraq. Back to Ott’s again on the 26th for an end of summer bash.
On the new music front, several tunes will be busted out at the Pool-Oooza. Since we are in friendly territory, we figured we’d show those in attendance an early screening. Several other new tunes have been added to the mix for the upcoming weeks. Just need some time to work on them and get them ready for ‘publication’ as us band dudes like to say.
TC is contemplating adding a Yamaha keyboard to the band’s arsenal, along with a cordless microphone. Johnny rented (and we aren’t kidding) a xylophone for $40 for four months, and Whitey for some oddball reason purchased Yellow Fin (and ex-Deck) Dennis Helkowski’s Ibanez Acoustic Electric guitar.
