Rare Saturday Practice

The boys in the band got together for an early St. Patty's Day practice at Carey's Irish Pub today, after missing the early week evening session due to TC's visit to the left coast.  Again, some nice strides were made on the day.

Bon Jovi's “Who Says You Can't Go Home” is just about there.  TC's doing some nice things on the Korg, the vocals are sorting out, and this song has a chance to be a real crowd pleaser.  If anything, Tina and Jenny will certainly have a good time with it (not that that has ever been a problem).

Speaking of the Korg and keys, what a difference that sucker makes on a song like Eddie Money's “Two Tickets to Paradise”.  Previously a nice song, it was missing something.  With TC on the keyboard, the whole tune comes alive and really stays together.

Two new tunes were unveiled over brews as well in the Pub today.  Blondie's “One Way or Another” and Heart's “Crazy on You” debuted, both to be sung eventually by Irene Lambrou.  Whitey had some problems with the tricky One Way, while the whole gang got nearly 2/3s of the Heart song down.  We will give both shots at the Monday evening session.  Two practices in three days, not too shabby.

The Deck Band also recently put together a set list for the upcoming Trio's Tavern gig in late April.  Next Monday night, sets one and two will be worked over.  Also discussed today were some new T-Shirts, the success of this here site, and the up and coming Deck Fan Hall of Fame section, to be called "Deck Heads".  Check back next week to see if you have been honored in the first class of Deck-Duct-Eees!
