The Deck Band... Rockin' and Bloggin' South Jersey one party at at time!
Summertime, Summertime, Sum-Sum, Summertime...

The end of the summer, and a great summer for the boys in the band.  Back in the old days, we tried to get out once a month.  Back then, the purpose was to have monthly goals, and to give our weekly practices some urgency.  That being said, at last check the band had played out 17 times through August, much better than a once a month pace.  In each of those gigs, we had more fun than the last.

September is light on the schedule and purposely so.  We have new songs we want to introduce, and its nice to have nearly a month between gigs to relax.  It's also good timing for TC and JR.  TC has been working enough for all of us, and out of town most weeks lately, while JR is back in the studio running The Eagles Radio Network, now broadcast on both 94 WYSP and 610 WIP on Sunday's and game days.

The new material we are working on are the Van Morrison version of Wild Nites.  We have the Melencamp version down, and thought Morrison's had a little more zip to it.  U2's Desire is on the list, a tune we already tried once at the Shea party but weren't very solid with.  Sweet Child O' Mine, closer to the Sheryl Crow version is another song we are working on, as well as a cool tune by Paoli Nutini called "New Shoes".  There is also a secret tune being worked over for our band photographer, and oldie with a new twist as well.

At the end of the month, the band is very excited about playing our first 'Beef N Beer'.  We think its the perfect setting.  Lots of people, a great cause, booze, and our rock-party act.  For details, check out the ad on the home page.

For the rest of the year, we are hopeful for gigs at Trios, Ott's, Yesterdays, Carolines, and might even check out Taylors in Williamstown.  That newer establishment appears to be booking live acts once again.  If anyone has any leads on pubs that would be a good fit, feel free to send over an email.

Once again, thanks for all that came out over the summertime.  A special thanks to those folks that check the website, then meet us out at gigs.  Building up our little fanbase can only lead to bigger and better things for all.
