As many of you know, the band and Tom Carey decided to part ways after our Weaver's gig, but the search for a new singer really began at the beginning of the new year. Six weeks later, after auditions and countless inquiries the Deck Band is excited to announce the addition of new singer, and first official female member Josie McAllister.
We met Josie last summer at the wildly-goodtime Shea party in August. She like many that night, manned up to the mic and belted out a few tunes. We were impressed.
A month later at the GCVAA B&B bash, she also sang with the band, this time the songs more accustomed to her liking and again we were impressed.
During the search, we decided to take a shot in the dark and ask if she'd be interested giving singing with us a full time venture. She agreed, auditioned and off we went.
Even though the band was 99% sure she was the best fit after that first audition, we still had a few people to consider in the wings. As Monday February 9th crept closer, we know the search was over.
We look forward to some great times and tunes with Josie up front. Current Deck fans are in for a treat, as not only can Josie, Whitey, and JR handle the current singing load, but Josie's strong vocals and range give the band a whole new realm of songs we can choose from.
Please give a nice Deck Band greeting to Josie and Brian Hannigan (our hired guitar gun) at our next time out at Ott's Tavern on the Green, Saturday March 14th.
