Good couple of days for the boys in the band. On Friday night, April 6th the band piled into JR-s rig and sailed east to Atlantic City, home of the House of Blues for a night with Buddy Guy. Great tunes on the drive down, and a really cool venue for anyone who has yet to check it out. There we met Whitey's college buddy Darren Caffrey and his friend Tom (who we also met there last year, same show), checked out both the opening act and BG, and had a blast.
At some point during the turnaround, JR stepped out. He returned a bit later with a handful of winning craps chips, and gave the band each some booty. None of the other guys had a clue as to what to do with them, so we gave them to TC, and he returned them to JR on our way out. More bonus money! Good night for AC, JR, and the DB. Let's keep that yearly event rolling! Darren is also just starting out with the accoustic guitar, so you may be seeing him plug in at Whitey-Pool-ooza on July 6th if the planets align.
The next day, Whitey's much anticipated Shure drum mic kit arrived. He was very impressed with the packaging. How do they sound? Not a clue, probably won't know until Trios!
Good practice on Monday night at TC Irish Pub. Kicked off nice and early, and that gave us the chance to work out nearly 30 songs. Sets 4 and 3 were the targets, some of them haven't been played since Ott's, so there was a little rust, but everything sounded pretty good. Next week we rehash sets 1 and 2, and will hopefully be graced with the special appearance by Irene, who is planning on doing several tunes with us at our April 28th gig in Williamstown, including a few new ones (thus the visit).
Side Notes (in G): Leave it to four knuckleheads not to have one businesscard on hand at Buddy Guy. Several times we were asked for our cards, and of course our response was "I don't right now, but let me check with x, y, or z". JR has a card plastered on his lighter, but that didn't make the trip!
If you have experienced a problem seeing pictures on our website, you aren't alone. Whitey has another service call in to our provider to see just what the fuck is going on with that. Good chance he will have to retool many of the pages that aren't showing correctly. Sounds like fun, huh?
Check back soon, lot's of new material starting to show up!
