Band Members & Philosophy...

The Deck Band is a six piece group.  Joanne McAllister is our front gal and chief booking
agent,  with lead vocals.
Veteran Kevin Murphy fulfills the bottom end with exceptional
bass work.
Kim Wilcox is a classically trained violinist, adds vocals and energy up front
as our newest band member.
Chris White rounds out the six-some on drums and lead
vocals.
Michael Lyman joined the group in the Fall of 2011 and plays both keyboards
and guitar (lead and rythm), also adds another voice to to the group.  The band's newest
member is guitarist
Matt Riley.  Matt joins the group in October of 2011, and can play as
well as anyone in South Jersey

The band has been playing together for several years.  Since early 2005, we have played
throughout the Delaware Valley for venues spanning Yesterday's in Marmora, Ott's in
Washington Township, and across the river at Chicki's & Pete's in South Philly with
many dots in between.

Our philosophy is pretty simple:

  • We do our best to provide quality music, to promote the establishments we play at,
    and to keep our word.

  • We are our own sound system, and also sub out sound work for larger venues.

  • With an email database approaching 150 contacts, we feel we can introduce the type
of customers to your establishment that you are looking for.  Good people with
disposable income, looking for a fun night out.

We encourage audience participation.  When your crowd is involved firsthand with the
band, they are more likely to hang around and increase sales.  We realize the bottom line
for anyone hiring our group is having a good night at the register.

Song Selection...

Outside of being well organized and good people, the real strength of The Deck Band is in
our song selection.  A nice mix of music from the 1960's to today's popular rock songs.
We will rarely play back-to-back songs you aren't familiar with.  At the same time, we try
to provide more than your standard covers as well.

How We roll...

Okay, what to expect from booking our band is probably a better description.  If you
book The Deck Band, here's what happens.

  • We immediately place all newly booked venues on our website calendar page, with
a link to the establishment if available.

  • We send out 2-3 emails  The first blast to announce the gig, followed by one the
week prior, and the last the night before the gig.  Our as of April 2009 our
distribution list is roughly 150 addresses.

  • We produce and distribute fliers for all performances, with our own unique style and wit.

  • We arrive on time, introduce ourselves to your staff, and set up in a professional
    manner.

  • We play three to four sets a night.  The amount of songs usually doesn't change,
just the number of breaks we take in between will vary.  Each establishment can
    request what they'd prefer.

  • In between sets, we will play music unless the manager prefers the juke box.

  • As an interactive band, we encourage audience participation, as long as it doesn't
detract from the enjoyment of other guests.

  • At the end of the evening, the band breaks down so as not to interfere with guests,
and a band rep meets with the establishment manager.

  • Within a week after the show, pictures and other mention ables are added to our
band website, along with a permanent link to the the establishment (if applicable).

  • We do our best to promote the gig and establishment in partnership with the venue.
